ODASSIEN X K-STUDIO
Odassien teamed up with K-Studio for the second edition of Friday Matters exploring the idea of local vs. global in architecture and design.
Inspired by the theme “Right Here Right Now,” our studio conceived a light installation that slowly shifted like a real sunset over the course of the event. The colors changed slowly as time passed, so guests could actually feel the evening unfolding around them.
A sunset is something we all share. It happens everywhere, every single day. It’s at once deeply local and universal. That’s why it was the perfect symbol to bring the theme to life within the space, while highlighting the signature arch on the main wall of Castor Place.
The round shape of our artificial sun was reflected throughout the scenography, from the pill-shaped stage to the bread rings that were served.
In addition, we designed an interactive game where guests were invited to match different locations/contexts with a curated selection of objects, choosing the combinations that felt most fitting to them. The activity was intended to spark conversations about how personal and subjective “local” and “global” can sometimes be. There’s no single right answer, only many possible perspectives.
An open theme, explored in a playful way, very much in the spirit of K-Studio: always curious, always learning.
Friday Matters is an initiative by K-Studio that attempts to blend the intellectual stimulation of a design talk with the social enjoyment of a Friday night out; to initiate a dialogue on some of the most common and burning concerns of creation.
